Ricky Martin plans to expand his family.
The openly gay 40-year-old singer wants his three-year-old twin sons Matteo and Valentino to have another sibling.
He and his partner Carlos Gonzélez Abella are thrilled about the possibility of becoming parents together.
"I think that I'll do it later on this year, so that [the kids] are not too far apart in ages," Ricky told Latina magazine. "A little girl! Dios mÍo, me muero ... But we're going to talk about that later on. It would be irresponsible to do it now."
Although Ricky and Carlos are interested in growing their clan, they are not rushing down the aisle anytime soon.
Puerto Rico native Ricky, who was nationalised as a Spanish citizen last November, is happy to have the option of marriage on the table.
'We are not talking about [getting married], we're not thinking about it,' Ricky said. 'But I'm so happy that in Europe we have the option. It's amazing to think that we can say, 'I feel like it. I'm ready. Let's go.' "
Ricky is happy about his decision to publicly announce his homosexuality in 2010. He feels that being truthful has beneficially impacted the lives of many.
"[I'm happy] for myself, my family, my core fans. They feel more in touch with me and I feel more in touch with them,' Ricky said. 'If I feel free, they're going to feel free and vice versa. It's contagious."
Ricky will play Cuban revolutionary leader Che Guevara in Broadway musical Evita, which opens in New York City this March.
