The Barbados-born beauty and the baseball star called time on their 11-month relationship after struggling to find the time to see one another, with the singer touring the world in support of her latest album 'Loud' and the sportsman based in Los Angeles.

A source told Us Weekly magazine: 't happened over the last few weeks. She basically was just over it.'

The insider claimed Matt, 26, was growing increasingly frustrated at 22-year-old Rihanna's busy schedule, but insisted the couple were never particularly serious about their relationship.

The source said: 'He just can't keep up with her crazy travel schedule. Matt's sick of always following after her like a puppy dog all over the world. He wants something more normal.

"It was never as serious as it looked. It was always just about having fun."

Earlier this year, Rihanna admitted she and Matt felt the pressure of making a long distance romance work.

She said: 't's really difficult because we are so far from each other most of the year and we both have very demanding schedules, it gets difficult at times but it is what it is.
